Mozart - Piano and Violin Sonata in Bb KV 15 - Andante maestoso mov. 1/2
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791) Sonata for Keyboard, Violin (or flute) and (optional) cello in Bb major, KV 15 1. Andante maestoso Harpsichord: Gérard Poulet Violin: Blandine Verlet This sonata is part of the set of sonatas K.10 - K.15, all of them composed in London and The Hague (Nederlands) during the Mozart's family Grand Tour of Europe. Published by Leopold as Mozart's Opus 3. They are all composed for Harpsichord or Pianoforte, Violin or Flute, and optional cello. This last instrument, however, doesn't have its own melodic line, it just copies the basso continuo line of the Harpsichord left hand. Dedicated to Sophie Charlotte, Queen of England. Abert wrote: "A very different aspect is revealed by the sonatas written in London and The Hague, K10 - 15 and K26 - 31. It is not, however, as though Mozart had broken completely free from his former models. Indeed, Schobert's spirit continued to leave its mark on his style right up to the end of his life, simply because the two men were kinded spirits. But the older impressions were now joined by new ones whose principal mediator was Johann Cristian Bach. It was not, however, a change that took place overnight: the sonatas K10, K11 and K13 are still in three movements, while K13 and K14 additionally include complete recapirulations as found in works of the earlier period. Parisan taste is discernible in points of detail, too. In other respects, however, we find greater freedom here in terms of both the number and ...

M. Corrette - Sonata for Bassoon, or (Cello, or Viol) No.1 in ?major, Op.20 / Musica Franca
Michel Corrette (1709~1795) ?Les Délices de la Solitude?Op. 20 Sonate n°1 en Fa majeur (sonate pour basson, ou (violoncelle ou Viol) et basse continüe) I. Allegro - 00:00 II. Aria - 01:58 III. Allegro - 04:31 Musica Franca Nadina Mackie Jackson (bassoon) Fraser Jackson (contrabassoon) Paul Jenkins (harpsichord) Almost nothing is known of the life of Michel Corrette (1707-1795), but his works, which span nearly 75 of his almost 90 years on the planet, offer us an exceptional overview of Hausmusik. Corrette was born the year that Buxtehude died and he outlived Mozart by four years. Living to the age of 88 was not an easy task during the 18th century, even though a number of luminaries, musical and otherwise, did it. Corrette's reputation as a composer was founded upon a number of vaudevilles and divertissements composed between 1732 and 1739. He also served a long and distinguished tenure (1737-90) as organist at Ste. Marie within the temple of the grand prieur de France, serving simultaneously as organist at the Jesuit College in the rue St. Antoine. Corrette was also well known as a teacher, but his reputation wasn't always flattering. Some called his pupils anachorètes, or ânes à Corrette. However, for musicologists, Corrette's instructional methods are a wellspring of information regarding performance practice during the period and include publication for a variety of instruments including organ, harpsichord, violin, guitar, double bass, and hurdy-gurdy. Corrette held ...

Johannes Brahms: "Heimweh II", Op.63,No.8 Fischer-Dieskau
Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) "Heimweh II", Op. 63, No. 8 Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (baritone) Jörg Demus (piano) Brahms wrote three songs entitled "Heimweh" as part of his Op. 63. In each song, Brahms conveys the protagonist's longing for lost childhood. The second song, Op. 63, No. 8, is the most complex, with a beautifully yearning, chromatic melody heard only in the accompaniment to the slower and rhythmically repetitive vocal line. These represent, respectively, the emptiness of a deserted beach as a metaphor for the search for happiness and the bitter realization that there can be no return to the lost joy of childhood. Klaus Groth (1819-1899) Nostalgia II Oh, that I knew the way back, The blessed way to childhood! Why did I look for happiness And leave my mothers hand? Oh, how I long to rest, Woken by no struggle, To shut my tired eyes, Gently protected by love. To seek after nothing, to peer at nothing, Only lightly and gently to dream, Blind to the changes of time A second ...

Aria 5, "Schafe können sicher weiden" (or "Sheep may safely graze"), is perhaps the most familiar part of this cantata. A normal performance lasts for about forty minutes. Personnel and Instruments: Diana, soprano I Pales, soprano II Endymion, tenor Pan, bass Chorus 2 horns, 2 recorders, 2 oboes, English horn, bassoon, 2 violins, viola, cello, violone, and continuo. Aria: "Schafe können sicher weiden" (orig. in B flat major, for soprano II with 2 recorders and continuo) Australian-born composer Percy Grainger wrote several free rambles on Bachs Sheep may safely graze. He first wrote Blithe Bells, (as he called his free ramble), for elastic scoring between November 1930 and February 1931. In March 1931, he scored a wind band version. It became one of his most famous arrangements. (inf. from Wikipedia)

Sigismond Thalberg - Variations on 'Home, Sweet Home!' Op.72 - MICHAEL PONTI
Played by Michael Ponti, 1974. A very popular tune, if you don't recognise it, where have you been living!). "Home! Sweet Home!" (also known as "Home, Sweet Home") is a song that has remained well-known for over 150 years. Adapted from American actor and dramatist John Howard Payne's 1823 opera Clari, Maid of Milan, the song's melody was composed by Englishman Sir Henry Bishop with lyrics by Payne. The opening lines Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam, Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home; have become famous. It is also used with Sir Henry Wood's Fantasia on British Sea Songs and in Alexandre Guilmant's Fantasy for organ Op. 43, the Fantaisie sur deux mélodies anglaises, both of which also use "Rule, Britannia". In 1909, it was featured in the silent film The House of Cards, an Edison Studios film. In the particular scene, a frontier bar was hurriedly closed due to a fracas. A card reading "Play Home Sweet Home" was displayed, upon which an on-screen fiddler promptly supplied a pantomime of the song. This may imply a popular association of this song with the closing hour of drinking establishments. The song is famous in Japan as "Hany? no Yado" ("????"?) ("My Humble Cottage"). It has been used in such movies as The Burmese Harp and Grave of the Fireflies. It is also used at Senri-Ch?? Station on the Kita-Osaka Ky?k? Railway.

Jen? Hubay composed Hullamzo Balaton (waves of Balaton). Joseph Szigeti plays it. Recorded on 30 September 1908; London Joseph Szigeti (Hungarian: Szigeti József) (September 5, 1892 February 19, 1973) was a Hungarian virtuoso violinist. Born into a musical family, he spent his early childhood in a small town in Transylvania. He quickly proved himself to be a child prodigy on the violin, and moved to Budapest with his father to study with renowned pedagogue Jen? Hubay. After completing his studies with Hubay in his early teens, Szigeti began his international concert career. His concertizing at that time was primarily limited to salon-style recitals and the more overtly virtuosic repertoire; however, after making the acquaintance of pianist Ferruccio Busoni, he began to develop a much more thoughtful and intellectual approach to music that eventually earned him the nickname "The Scholarly Virtuoso". Following a bout of tuberculosis which necessitated a stay in a sanatorium in Switzerland, Szigeti settled in Geneva where he became Professor of Violin at the local conservatory in 1917. It was in Geneva that he met his wife, Wanda Ostrowska, and at roughly the same time he became friends with the great composer Béla Bartók. Both relationships were to be lifelong. From the 1920s until 1960, Szigeti performed regularly around the world and recorded extensively. He also distinguished himself as a strong advocate of new music, and was the dedicatee of many new works by ...

My favorite piece. My favorite key. Written in Weimar in 1711. The opening is improvising section, free, strong, and spirit. In the Slow-cholare fugue, the 4 voices make gorgeous harmonies. Sustained notes are just amazing. Long fugue is following. ( double fugue is in the second half.) Fugue is like a traveling. Each subject has different face, color, and atmosphere. Long Bridge is so interesting. Something new is waiting over the bridge. Episodes make me so excited. I cannot stop playing this. So much fun! * recorded in New York, 2009

Passing Through: youtube.com - Friends, Please visit my Poet friend "Passing Through's" YouTube channel: youtube.com , and support him - Thanks :) Egmont, opus 84, by Ludwig van Beethoven, is a set of incidental music pieces for the 1787 play of the same name by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It consists of an overture and nine separate subsequent pieces for soprano and full orchestra. Beethoven wrote it between October 1809 and June 1810, and it was premiered on 15 June 1810. The subject of the music is the history and the heroism of the Count of Egmont. In the music Beethoven expressed his own political concerns, particularly the heroic exaltation of the sacrifice of a man condemned to death by having taken a strong stand against oppression. The music was accompanied by eulogistic praise, in particular by ETA Hoffmann, for its poetry and Goethe himself declared that Beethoven had expressed his intentions with "a remarkable genius". The overture, powerful and expressive, is one of the last works of his middle period; it has become as famous a composition as the Coriolan Overture, and is in a similar style to the Fifth Symphony which he completed two years earlier. The structure and themes of the overture follow the play very generally. The main C minor theme represents Coriolan's resolve and war-like tendencies (he is about to invade Rome), and the tender E flat major theme represents the pleadings of his mother to desist. Coriolan eventually gives in to tenderness, but since he cannot turn back having led an army of his former enemies to Rome's gates, he kills himself. It was premiered in March of 1807 at a private concert of the home of Prince Franz Joseph von Lobkowitz. The fourth symphony and the fourth piano concerto were premiered in that same concert.
