Courante à l'Italiéne Performed by Le Concert des Nations Directed by Jordi Savall *Couperin's Preface: "These pieces are suitable not only for the harpsichord, but also the violin, the flute, the oboe, the viol and the bassoon. I wrote them for the little chamber concerts commanded by Louis XIV almost every Sunday throughout the year. The pieces were performed by Messieurs Duval [violinist], Philidor [oboist and bassoonist], Alarius [gambist], and Dubois [basoonist]: I myself played the harpsichord. In the hope that they will please the general public as they did the late King, I herewith publish several complete volumes"
