The film was produced by Ronald Neame and photographed by Guy Green.[1] It was the first of two films Lean directed based on Dickens\' novels, the other being his 1948 adaptation of Oliver Twist. Rare. Rene Leibowitz conducts The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (1962) ------------------------- Rene Leibowitz (1913-1972) was born in Warsaw but moved to Paris in his teens and there began a long, illustrious conducting career. Particularly interested in contemporary music, he studied with Webern and Schoenberg and wrote a detailed analysis of twelve-tone music. A keen ear for instrumental coloration (Ravel was his orchestration teacher) was evident in his kaleidoscopic transcriptions of such works as Bach\'s Passacaglia and Fugue in C (for double orchestra!). But he is best known for his often highly personal renditions of many staples of the Classical and Romantic repertoire. Part 2 youtube.com

Carl Maria von Weber - Six pieces, op.3

BEETHOVEN SYMPHONY NO 7 IN HD.

BEETHOVEN SYMPHONY NO 7 Ludwig van Beethoven[1] (baptized 17 December 1770[2]--26 March 1827) was a German[3] composer and pianist. The crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western art music, he remains one of the most famous and influential composers of all time. Born in Bonn, then the capital of the Electorate of Cologne and part of the Holy Roman Empire, Beethoven moved to Vienna in his early 20s, studying with Joseph Haydn and quickly gaining a reputation as a virtuoso pianist. His hearing began to deteriorate in the late 1790s, yet he continued to compose, conduct, and perform, even after becoming completely deaf. Symphony No. 7 (Beethoven) Ludwig van Beethoven\'s Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92, in 1811, was the seventh of his nine symphonies. He worked on it while staying in the Bohemian spa town of Teplice in the hope of improving his health. It was completed in 1812, and was dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries. At its debut, Beethoven was noted as remarking that it was one of his best works.[1] The second movement Allegretto was the most popular movement and had to be encored.[1] The instant popularity of the Allegretto resulted in its frequent performance separate from the complete symphony.[2] Premiere The work was premiered in Vienna on December 8, 1813 at a charity concert for soldiers wounded in the Battle of Hanau, with Beethoven himself conducting and double featured with the patriotic Wellington\'s Victory symphony ...

Schubert D 959 Sonata Andantino Mitsuko Uchida.mp4

This Sonata movement is the most haunting I know by any composer and Mitsuko Uchida infuses it with the desperation yet the severity it requires. I have listened to this unbelievable artist twice at Carnegie Hall, the first time in April 2009 when she played among other works a Mozart Sonata and especially Schumann\'s daunting Fantasy Op 17, and the second time in October of that same year when she played Beethoven\'s last three sonatas with her customary intensity.

Well i am a little classical guru myslef. You obviously know it is by beethoven. i dont know much about those two i normally focus on tchakisovy, and vivaldi. Umm b's 9th was his last symphony, and b 1'st was his first symphony lol. Sry for not being able to be more helpful. check out wikipedia.com

Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C Major (Op. 21) was written in 1799–1800. The symphony premiered April 2, 1800 at the K.K. Hoftheater nächst der Burg in Vienna, and is dedicated to Baron Gottfried van Swieten, an early patron of the composer. The piece was published in 1801 by Hoffmeister & Kühnel of Leipzig. The opening of the first movement is often considered a musical joke, but it may simply be a result of Beethoven's experimentation: it consists of a sequence of dominant-tonic chord sequences in the wrong key, so that the listener only gradually realizes the real key of the symphony. The labeled "Andante" of the second movement is played considerably fast, very much unlike the general concept of Andante. The third movement is remarkable in that although it is marked Menuetto, it is so fast that its ostensibly a Scherzo. The finale opens with another (possible) joke; the adagio consists of slowly-played partial scales before the full C-major scale marks the start of the allegro.

Who composed Symphony no.1? Is anyone able to tell me the composer who composed a 'Symphony no. 1' was? All I know is that it was his only popular work and no subsequent compositions were ever as good, leading him to resent that piece. The answer is NOT Beethoven, Tchaikovsky or Mahler. mephistopheles, the statement that none of his subsequent pieces were as good is a common assumption, not my personal opinion.Thank you to everyone who answered.
For the life of me I can't fathom who you could possibly mean,Prokofiev's 1st Symphony 'the Classical' perhaps? or Cesar Frank as has been already suggested? though your statement that it was their 'only popular work and no subsequent compositions were ever as good' would surely not absolutely hold true in either case..Incidentally where does this evaluation stem from? Either way I'm almost sure it must refer to one of the minor or lesser known composers. However I am shocked and dumbfounded that someone ventured forth Brahms. What! How thoroughly and utterly insane..
Robert Schumann, this symphony is also known as "Spring"

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Lieder)

Das Lied der Trennung. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Das Lied der Trennung. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Vergessen raubt in Stunden, was Liebe jahrlang spendet. Wie eine Hand sich wendet, so wenden Herzen sich. Wenn neue Huldigungen mein Bild bei ihr verdrungen, o Gott! Vielleicht auf ewig vergißt Luisa mich, vergißt sie mich. Ach denk an unser Scheiden! Dies tränenlose Schweigen, dies Auf- und Niedersteigen des Herzens drücke dich wie schweres Geisterscheinen, wirst du wen anders meinen, wirs du mich einst vergessen Gott und dich. Ach denk an unser Scheiden!

op.10 No.12 - Frédéric Chopin

Chopin - Étude Op. 10 No. 12 in C minor "Revolutionary"

Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor known as The Revolutionary Étude, is a solo piano work by Frédéric Chopin written circa 1831. It is the 12th of his first set of etudes - "Douze Grandes Etudes" dedicated to "son ami Franz Liszt" (his friend Franz Liszt). The two sets of Études, Opus 10 and 25, are known collectively as the Chopin Études, although Chopin also contributed three other lesser known études (the Trois Nouvelles Études). History The étude appeared around the same time as the November Uprising in 1831. Chopin was unable to have a strong participating role because of his poor health, and allegedly he poured his emotions on the matter into many pieces that he composed at that time - the Revolutionary Étude standing out as the most notable example. Upon conclusion of Poland\'s failed revolution against Russia, he cried "All this has caused me much pain. Who could have foreseen it!" Unlike études of prior periods (works designed to emphasize and develop particular aspects of musical technique, cf the much feared but essential School of Velocity, or the Five Finger Exercises by Hanon) the romantic études of composers such as Chopin and Liszt are fully developed musical concert pieces, but still continue to represent a goal of developing stronger technique Technique In the case of The Revolutionary Étude, the technique required in the opening bars is playing an extremely fast, long and loud descending harmonic minor scale mainly in the left hand. The length and the ...

Chopin - Polonaise, Op. 53 (Kissin)

Polonaise, Op. 53 Evgeny Kissin, piano The Polonaise in A-flat major, Op. 53 (nicknamed Heroic, or Heroique) for solo piano was written by Frédéric Chopin in 1842. This masterpiece is one of Chopin\'s most popular compositions and has always been a favorite of the classical piano repertoire. The piece requires exceptional pianistic skills and requires virtuosity to be played at an appropriate level of quality. Although the piece is labeled as a polonaise, it has little to do with the typical polonaise style. It presents two sections with a polonaise rhythm, but most of it has no particular polonaise attribute. It has been said that Chopin had composed the piece having a free and powerful Poland in mind, which may have led him to label it as a polonaise. Another possibility is that this Polonaise is closely related to the Polonaise in A major, Op. 40, No. 1, known as the Military Polonaise, which, unlike Op. 53, is a true polonaise. Help me find a piece to learn next please ? well here's the story:so my mom is getting tired of paying for piano lessons. Right now were discussing if im still going to have them. So at my last lesson my piano teacher gave me Chopin's "Military" Polonaise Op.40 No.1 to work on and no other pieces and that was a while ago maybe back in October. I haven't been really practicing it a lot but finished it on Christmas. So i wont see my piano teacher next week or maybe never again! but i wont lose hope though i will get through this :)okay but the main question here is since im done with all my pieces right now can you please recommend a song for me to learn something by Chopin will be nice along with all the other great composers :) ! song im working on now is Liszt etude op.1 no.2So please people of yahoo answers give me a piece to learn please.btw im 14 if that helpsbtw im 14 if that helps
Hello!Try the 1st Scherzo or the 3rd Ballade by Chopin, these are not so difficult pieces. But I don't think you can learn them without a teacher. You haven't mentioned your age, but I suppose you are a pupil, if your mother pays for your piano lessons and if you play this repertoire you told us. My advice is to find a good piano teacher to help you. You have to talk with your piano teacher about your repertoire, not to ask for advices on Yahoo! Answers. Of course, it's fine to ask for some opinions on a forum, but you should have a professional opinion. All the best and good luck!

2 of my favorites are his Nocturne in B flat minoryoutube.com/watch?v=cFhaBEtmHeUand the Raindrops Prelude in D flat majoryoutube.com/watch?v=UGg8FqYRnwkand if you think you can handle it, the Fantasie Impromtpuyoutube.com/watch?v=qa0Z6g1XJkU

Bad Ass Piano Solos - NOT anything modern/mainstream? Well, I have had my share of experiences with people who think they're "four-chord" songs are considered difficult repertoire.I've used Kapustin and Chopin as my trump cards too many times and I need another piece to show them that the music of the modern generation is just too simple. Please name some "bad-ass" piano solos that I could add to my repertoire please :DExamples:Chopin Etude Op. 10, No. 4Kapustin Op.39 - Piano Sonata No.1 ( Sonata Fantasy ) - 4. Allegro MoltoKapustin Etude Op. 40, No.3But as much as I like chromatics, remember I'm using these solos to tackle a generation that is into melodic lines, so DIATONIC music that is "understandable" is very much preferred. No avante-garde or "experimental" music please...
Look up basically anything by Ravel. For example:Alberado del Gracioso is a collection of spanish melodies that have only a few chords, but they're all bizzare and sound wrong.Prelude from Le Tombeau de CouperinToccata from that suite if you're experienced enoughScarbo if you're insane enough.

Erik Satie Je te veux - Tzvi Erez, piano

iTunes Preview: itunes.apple.com Tzvi Erez performs Satie\'s Je te veux on a Bosendorfer piano, part of the new recording "Intimate Recital" on Niv Classical. Je te veux (French for I want you) is a song composed by Erik Satie to a text by Henry Pacory. A sentimental, slow waltz, it was originally written for the singer Paulette Darty, whose accompanist Satie had been for a period of time. The song was registered on November 1902, but some argue it had actually been composed in 1897. Satie composed various versions of the Je te veux waltz, this being the piano version. The melody was performed to the public in 1903 at La Scala. In 1925 the song was recorded with Yvonne George as singer. Je te veux was also recorded by Mathé Altéry, Régine Crespin, Gigliola Negri, Nicolaï Gedda and Davide Bassino, and later by the sopranos Jessye Norman and Marie Devellereau. 2010 Niv Classical. nivmusic.com
